The location of the hotel is advantage, being at a walking distance to Taksim square.The breakfast is good but repetitive.
Rooms are clean , but very small sized.
All in all a Value for money Hotel.

aircondition did not work in our room we called for service 7 or 8 times. bathroom towels were not clean, when checked in they charged us extra money by chaning euro to turkish lira, customer serive was not nice and helpful

Unwarranted ban on storing food and drinks in the room (alcohol, Turkish sweets, dry fruits).
Breakfast is not diverse.

Hotel ok, in a good spot. Only problem was the payment. I thought that being a 4* thotel hey would accept credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) but had to pay in cash. Maybe I missed something in the original booking.
Also the bill had to be checked as they tried to charge me for 5 nights of car parking when we had only used it for 2 nights.

thanks for asking. the hotel is very centrally located but some of the staff were very reluctant to give information. for example when i asked where hacibaba restaurant which is less than 5 minutes away from you the answer was we dont know. the assistant manager was very helpful but the young woman standing next to her was least. it apeared to me she was doing us a favour without doing any favour to us. this is the main reason why we chose not to stay again although we were booked for another 3 days. we had booked for a double room but they checked us ina 3 bed dingy looking and after protest they put us in a nicer double bed room. regards. nurdin karimjee

I stayed there with some friends for a couple of days. We were actually quite disappointed by the hotel, especially given that it is rated 4 stars. The staff was not very friendly, you have to pay to access the pool (which btw looked shady) and we had problems with the bathroom lock. One of my friends got stuck in there for 1 hr, and they had to break the lock to get him out. Even worse, the technician came back at 2 AM (yes 2 AM, this is not a spelling mistake), to repair the lock!! We had to wake up and wait for 30 mins until he was done. Good thing the manager personally presented his apologies and sent us some fruits and wine in the room. All in all I would definitely not recommend this hotel.

Good overall. Good location, 100m from Taksim square, big variety in breakfast, good size room but small bathroom. The friezer does not work when you are out of the room.
The people in the reception are polite and helpful. I had a very pleasant stay.

me and my family realy enjoy.
Hotel Rooms it is same as we see in the net.
but staff is real value of this hotels special
receiption staff Mr.Jem & Mr.Murad.
all staff are polite supportive and smile.
Hotel rates is ok.
very clean and safe,free swimming pool and sauna is very good offer specially for families.
If I came again I will not stay in any other hotel only prefere and recommend Grand star Hotel.

Two disspointing situations..
First, when we arrived (26/06/09 afternoon +/- 17hs), the person from the front desk that received us to make the chek in, told us that we must pay in CASH, when in the reservation from internet said that we could pay with credit card.
When I told that, the response (without the usual cordiality that one wait in a 4stars Hotel) that we should pay more money per day (91 Euros instead of 81 as we should...)...dissapointing
So we had to negociate, and I finnaly paid in cash, just to avoid the uncomfortable situation...
The particular situation was that these person, with a bad mood, received and rejected my 2 international credit cards (one a VISA GOLD), saying that there was no credit on thems....in the 6 days in Istanbul I payed everything with these credits cards without problem......doubtful situation
Second disapointing situation...
We tryed to go to the swimming pool, with my girl friend..... It was really dark, and just full of mens....nothing to do wit the pictures that you promote in the publicity....not a confortable situation. And more, the responsable for the entrance to the swemming pool wanted to charge 10 Euros to each one for the towels.....You're talking from a 4 stars hotel....
And to conclude, the air conditioning was so weak that it was better to sleep we the window open...
So I think that there were really dissapointing situations.
We didnt felt really confortable in the Hotel.
These hotel dont has the level for 4 stars.
I really wont recomend these hotel...

The Grand Star Hotel I stayed few days ago when I was in Istanbul looked very nice and comfortable to me. I found it pretty high standart and quality hotel at a relatively low price located in a perfect place of Taksim.
